It’s long been known that dance is the closest thing to sex you can enjoy with your clothes on. But Jamaicans are taking it to a whole new level with “daggering,” a form of dance that mimics hard-core porn.
Driva explains the dance like this:
“Daggering is a dance that makes you unleash the beast! If you ain’t know what I mean, think about every sex position and put it in a dance.”
Both RDX and Mr. Vegas have released tunes highlighting the dance. The Mr. Vegas version looks significantly less painful than the RDX version (view live in this grainy YouTube video), which involves some serious humping action.
Guys who’ve mastered the moves on the dance floor have been tempted to show the ladies what they’ve got in the bedroom, with disastrous results.
Rough sex is the perfect recipe for a broken penis, as can be attested to by the number of patients with penile fractures in hospital waiting rooms.
A surgeon from Kingston Public Hospital explains how it happens:
“During very rigorous intercourse, the penis slips out, and, in an attempt to ram it back in, the man hits the woman’s pubic bone and pops the penis.”

The Jamaican medical community has even taken the step of warning against the dance, given the potential for serious injury.
Some commentators suggest that daggering reflects the violence glamorized by Caribbean music, and the Jamaican Broadcasting Commission seems to agree. In February, they banned “any recording, live song or music video which promotes the act of daggering.”
It’s doubtful that the ban will be effective in stamping out the dance craze. Daggering has put down strong roots in the dance halls of the Caribbean and will likely continue to thrive, despite the government’s attempts to control it.
A more powerful deterrent than government regulation is the possibility of a broken penis. Slamming your privates against anything repeatedly is a bad, bad idea. It remains to be seen whether these dance floor kings will eventually figure that out.
